This blog got zapped, too, and I lost all the old posts. In this case, I have no idea what happened. After spending hours editing MySQL database parameters and .php files, I could not get the blog to connect with any database. The databases were right there, it wasn’t them or the server…although all my old posts had been deleted. This being the case, I finally gave up, deleted all the databases and the entire blog directory, made a new blog directory and installed WordPress from scratch, creating a brand new database in the process.
With a brand new blog, I tried something else. I hate, hate, hate, HATE these “block editors”. I searched around and found a theme called BlankSlate, which is absolutely nothing but the raw .php files for WordPress. No block editor, no bullshit–it starts out as a single page of unadorned html and you take it from there.
Now that’s MY kind of WordPress!
The downside is that now I’m amusing myself by playing with it and getting it to match BLUM’s website instead of doing anything that, you know, I actually get paid for.
